We are constantly looking at how to change. Change is inevitable. As every moment passes, everything changes, and as human beings we are driven to control the change for the better.
One of the definitions of insanity is said to be that if you keep doing the same thing you’ll get the same outcome. So the initial premise of taking control of the changes in your business or personal life is to begin to make little changes that can impact on the way we feel, think and behave.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, in the medial sense, says that we are all in a continuous loop of behaviours, thoughts and feelings which continually influence each other. If you keep behaving the same way you will think and feel the same. If you think in the same way you will behave and feel the same. If you feel the same you will behave and think in the same way to preserve your status quo.
This principle operates in all areas of our lives, both in business and in your personal life. So actually, to inspire change is quite a simple process. Either think, feel or behave differently, in such a way that supports where you are trying to get to, and the other two elements in the mix, will follow suit.
Today I went for a walk in nature, to behave differently to the normal working day at the Mac, in cafes, meetings or with clients. I almost instantly started thinking differently and more creatively about projects and current challenges, and of course, I felt great as a result!
So what can you do today to shift one of your thoughts, feelings or behaviours in a small way in the direction of where you want to go? Watch how that impacts on everything else.
